.. Hand picked for you each morning

Previous days' articles             Articles from 2002-2007/Jan-June 2008

* Useful information about this site/ how to copy link addresses

So farewell, Mr Rae - I started this site on 1st July 2002 when (as a look through the wreckage of broken links in the Archives reveals) the new Network Rail was being offered very large sums of money by Transport Secretary Alastair Darling as part of a public sector rescue attempt - well, some things don't change. Since then, I know the community of users that has built up over 6 years has been grateful for the daily service - I don't think I've missed one - and will be pleased that my last act has been to secure its continuation by Cogitamus.  You should also thank Cogitamus for taking on the task. I'm sure you will bear with the new team over the next few weeks as they get their eye in - 'hand picking each morning' requires a certain experience - and I will be providing some input at the start to ensure quality standards.

As for me, it's been a great pleasure to have provided you all with the service from which you have derived whatever the personal or professional benefit - the original intention always was that the labour of one could assist the many - so I know you will be happy to join in a verse to the tune of the Spiritual:

"Some of these mornings, bright and fair, I thank God I'm free at last.
Free at last, free at last.  I thank God I'm free at last".

The old site will be archived on my personal website.  The service itself will continue tomorrow at the usual address - subject to the domain switching having completed  !
